Answer: Introduction The following assignment is an analysis of the process of note taking and reading skills in the university. The note-taking form is based on the process of documenting the class lectures and study materials. Reading is the skill by which the student study the notes made to get accustomed with the ideology and conception that were discussed in the class. These notes and the reading of them are crucial for the students to perform well in the class tests and university exams. It is very important to go through the notes thoroughly and develop a clear concept of the lectures. Summary The reading is a very important skill along with the management of time and following effective notes. The reading undergoes a noted transition from that in classes to the one in university as there is an increase in a load of reading materials and complexity in understanding ("Reading Skills For University | Learning Skills Services"). Reading plays a significant role in the learning approach in the university. It is observed that many students are accustomed to passive reading instead of constructing an accurate, comprehensive guide for the point of reading. It results in the case of many students disliking the reading process. The active Reading stands for the process of reading in which the reader is fully aware of the purpose or motive of the reading. The university books and reading materials comprise of the brief objective page in which the main concept of the writings and the purpose of the reading is stated ("How To Study Effectively: 8 Advanced Tips - College Info Geek"). T he chapter can be used for setting certain aspects of the chapter that needs to be focused. It is important for increasing the skill for the utilization of the notes that can be perceived by improvising the attention during the class lectures. Some things should be kept in mind while improving the listening capability like, on purpose listening and comprehensive audio-visual signs. The study shows that for improving the reading skill, one has to deal with the obstacles and note the lectures for future references. The process of Reading has an important subset of operation i.e. understanding. Understanding the noted lectures provides scope for comparison and evaluation of the lecture notes made by the students. The students need to analysis the notes and completely become accustomed to the contents and study matters that are taught in the lecture. The structure of the notes can be grouped the introductory, explanatory, informative, criticizing, summarizing and concluding portions (St even, 2012). The efficiency of the lecture lies in the fact that how much it is compact, easy to understand and knowledgeable. Two types of note taking system are broadly used in university level of study; Cornell and mind maps. Cornell system of note taking is characterized by the vertical division of the page into two columns ("Note Taking At University | Learning Skills Services"). It is done before taking the notes. The first column or one third of the page is made as inserting the keywords and review column. The second column or two third of the page is utilized for inserting the notes. This style is very useful as the main keywords of the notes are highlighted in the keyword column, and it eases the search for any particular topic from the whole notes. Mind maps are another important style for taking notes in the university notes. Mind maps are a pictorial or diagrammatical representation of the notes that is used for organizing the lectures using the key concepts from the notes ("Study Less Study Smart: A 6-Minute Summary Of Marty Lobdell's Lecture - College Info Geek"). Every note is linked to a part icular keyword, and it allows easy transition of the Cornel keyword column. It is useful for the allowing the link between the main content of the lecture and the allowance for any additional matter to the topic. Before making the notes, it is important for constructing an outline structure for the note taking. Sometimes it is observed that the keywords are alone sufficient enough to understand the topic matter. If a proper structure is made for the note taking, then it would allow the student to reduce the size of the note, and ultimately it would result in saving some time of the student (Balkis et al., 2013). Preparation for the exam is a collective process of making and reading the notes keeping in mind the examination process ("Preparing For Tests And Exams | Learning Skills Services"). Making the note is followed by the process of review of the notes. Since the notes made are permanent, and it is very useful for studying purpose during exams, the notes should be reviewed carefully and cautiously. Both the system of the note taking is very useful as they have an option for placing keywords. So during the exam time, a student can follow the keywords of any particular topic for studying purpose. The process of making notes and ultimately reading them is beneficial for effective learning (Dunlosky et al., 2013). The effective learning has some principles like Interest motivation, selectivity, meaningful structure and organizing them, and setting the intention to retain the notes learned. Grading is important for the students. To achieve good grades in the exams, the student must study effe ctively. All the important study materials and lectures must be completely understood and studied. The assignment submitted should be reviewed and determination of the major topic for each subject. The timing plays an important role in the preparation of the exams ("Study Skills - Preparing For Exams"). The effective balance between the study for the exam and performing the course work is a must for each student. Conclusion The process of the making notes, reading the notes and preparing for the examination is collective in nature. The university students have to improvise their study techniques for the examination. The two methods of the note taking are Cornel and Making Minds, and they are very useful and support ease of learning for the students. The notes made should be reviewed carefully and understand properly. The use of key terms in the notes facilitates the time saving for searching any particular topic from the whole notes. The above summary is an analysis of the effective note making, systematic reading or understanding process and final preparation for the exam for a Grad or university student.
